From the minute I pulled them out of the box, they have been instant engagement. I have already been able to use these trays with both last year's class and this year's class. We have sorted letters, made CVC words, made our names, and even played some math games. These trays are easy to use, compact to store, and provide a color coding system to keep materials organized. \r\n\r\nAs I dig into more uses for these trays, I plan to use them for both small group reading and math interventions as well as early finisher games. These are trays are easy to prep so that I can use them with small groups but also as a quick early finisher task for students to pull and work on. Since they are magnetic, I have been able to purchase magnetic counters, magnetic letters, and magnetic numbers to enhance their use. \r\n\r\nThank you again for providing such a useful tool for our classroom. Not every kindergartener is a reader yet, however every kindergartener loves to listen and write stories. The Toniebox has opened up a new way of listening to not only narrative stories, but also informational stories. During our Cafe time each day, students are able to pull a Tonie and story book to listen to. For example this week we listened to The Hungry Caterpillar which went well with our science unit where we are actually growing/observing caterpillar that will metamorph into butterflies. The Hungry Caterpillar tonie includes not only the main story, but also fun facts about caterpillars and butterflies. \r\n \r\n Now that my students are becoming experts in how to use and manage the Toniebox, we will be taking the next step of recording our very own stories on our Creative Tonie character. My students have spent time developing and find tuning their own stories about animals on a farm. We will now take these stories and voice record them. Once completed, I will be able to upload the stories to a Creative Tonie where students will be able to listen to not only their own farm animal story, but everyone else in the class! My students are very excited about this opportunity to shine!\r\n\r\n As we continue on this journey with the Toniebox, I am excited to see what unfolds. I appreciate your generous support. You have brought so much joy and excitement to my classroom. I truly believe one of the goals of kindergarten is to nurture that love for learning. You have helped me to do just that.","fullyFundedDate":1738287337409,"projectUrl":"project/tonies-boxes-and-characters-to-provide-i/8920177/","projectTitle":"Tonies Boxes and Characters to Provide Increased Language Development","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Salazar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3718006_orig.jpg?crop=360,360,x0,y51&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721147304425","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3718006"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48570","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":344,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":48,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.5,"schoolId":48570,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tomahawk Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tomahawk Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/olathe-public-schools-usd-233/tomahawk-elementary-school/48570"}
