Breathe for Change- Social Emotional Learning for Young Students
I need your assistance to fund tuition for the Breathe for Change yoga instructor training for educators. This course will teach me how to incorporate mindfulness and social emotional learning within the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Preschool is one of the most important developmental stages for children. Within this first year of school, students acquire many skills that create the foundation for further learning. Children at this age are learning to increase self awareness and independence as well as forming new relationships with others.
Social and emotional learning is the main focus of the preschool classroom.
These skills are mostly taught through various types of play. My classroom's main goal is to promote independence by creating an atmosphere that is student directed and open to exploration.
My Project
Breathe for Change is a yoga instructor course what will teach me the skills necessary to enhance social emotional learning within the classroom. This course will provide me training in mindfulness and meditation and how to incorporate these routines on a daily basis.
My goal is to instill kindness, self-love, physical and mental strength and balance, and, above all, inner peace and resiliency in my students.
Social emotional learning at the preschool age is crucial for future mental health. When emphasized in the classroom, it provides the basis for skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions.
