Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school saying is, "Better today than yesterday! Better tomorrow than today!" I want to make their tomorrow better!
My class consists of a diverse group of learners.
My class has 26 second grade students of varying abilities. The socio-economic background of our students is reflected by our 97% free or reduced-price lunch rate.
I teach in an urban inner city school rich with diversity. Most of my students need additional learning materials to meet grade level expectations. Please help me to make tomorrow better for them!
My Project
My students are eager and energetic learners. They enjoy learning about the world around them and sharing their ideas in groups.
We need new attractive borders, colored paper rolls, and awnings to decorate our bulletin boards in the classroom and hallways leading to our class.
Having attractive bulletin board displays shows pride and ownership of our classroom.
My students need vibrant areas to keep their interest in the classroom displays. I want to make every corner of the room a teaching area for Math, Science, Literacy, Social Studies, Stem, and Writing. I want my learners to be interested in the materials on the wall. I want them to go up to the bulletin boards and use the materials to further their learning.
I would use the Superhero Awnings, Superhero magnetic borders, Super Strong Hooks, and the Grade 2 Magnetic Word Wall Words to create a bulletin board area that would excite my students to learn new words! Surely seeing superhero comic logos would excite them and call attention to important sight words they need to know and master in second grade.
Having a STEM area with posters and yellow background paper would call attention to STEM activities. It would be a great place to have a Maker Space in the classroom. I would have all of my STEM kits to be available on a shelf in the area for my students to explore and deepen their learning. I would also have a Maker Space with materials to allow them to create to their hearts content. A "Make it and Take it" home to share with your family.
Having these vibrant materials to transform our learning areas would be a great addition to our classroom environment. I believe it would make our classroom more inviting and more interactive for my students.
