My Project

Our Title I school has a bookstore built into the cafeteria that was abandoned in 2019. I have done significant improvements and successfully have the bookstore running 3 shifts a day, 5 days a week. I am a firm believer that our students deserve school spirit items and a place to feel like they can find items to become a Jaguar. Many of our students have never experienced the bookstore. The bookstore is run by our Marketing year 2 students who are studying entrepreneurship and small business and open to volunteers who may not be in the program but want to be a part of the club. My students will be able to properly price items, organize, and safely put cash in the bookstore without stress of moving a cash box. The label printer is also for organizing backstock and the bins for easy weekly inventory counts. My volunteers are able to get volunteer hours for this through the school district as well. This project gives us the ability to price and organize our own inventory and continue our initial success. The inventory listed is helping my students learn the importance of cost, profit, revenue, inventory, and many more topics that are covered to further financial literacy as an entrepreneur and small business owner.
