This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My passion for teaching Pre-Kindergarten children has lasted for over 10 years. All of my children are eager learners and they come to school with lots of enthusiasm and questions; the most effective, fun and strategic way in which they will learn is the tactile way. My students love books and building manipulatives.

Opening a book, feeling its pages, looking at pictures, connecting with the story, and beginning to read the first letter of a word is the most exciting thing for a Pre-Kindergarten child.My goal is for my children to feel welcome, happy, excited, and eager to learn and explore in their classroom through books and a variety of materials that are of greatest interest to them.

My Project

Children love to hear a variety of stories in their own language. At the same time, our students enjoy listening the same story repeatedly.

One of the strategies for our Early Childhood student’s success is to provide children with opportunities to “pretend read” the books themselves or pretend to read them to their friends.

This way, the students practice the vocabulary they acquired while listening to the read aloud in the classroom. In our classroom we have several learning centers and our goal is that in each center there are books available for students, especially those that we have planned to read strategically. That's why it is of utmost importance that children have access to the books that we have read to them and other books as well.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
