Children love to hear a variety of stories in their own language. At the same time, our students enjoy listening the same story repeatedly. One of the strategies for our Early Childhood student’s success is to provide children with opportunities to “pretend read” the books themselves or pretend to read them to their friends. This way, the students practice the vocabulary they acquired while listening to the read aloud in the classroom. In our classroom we have several learning centers and our goal is that in each center there are books available for students, especially those that we have planned to read strategically. That's why it is of utmost importance that children have access to the books that we have read to them and other books as well.
