This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are young men and women of great promise. I would love for them to grow up and fulfill their potential and purpose. I hope that their passion for improvement stays strong. They are all bright and brave in myriad ways.

My students attend an all-black school in the Walker Homes community in Memphis, Tennessee.

We strive to become a Level 5 school, but we have very limited resources.

My Project

These reading materials will make a difference like putting clay in a potter's hands. It will inspire students to create written works that are well worth reading. It will motivate them to honor each chapter of their lives and to make their own life stories more fulfilling. Students will read at school in a cozy and comfortable environment.

I will teach thematic lessons that are insightful and impactful.

I will model how to close read and annotate. I will facilitate as students embark on this adventurous journey. Thanks for everything!
