My Project

I recently received a book series and left it on my desk so I can label them. The kids went to my desk looking at what I got and were very interested in them. So I raise a question about what books they would like to read as I'm going to start looking into the issue I'm having where they look bored reading books and they typically don't want to go to our classroom library that I have for them. My class library isn't adequate with the books students like as these books were purchased for 8th graders and now I'm teaching 7th graders and they are not interested in them. The amount of hands that got raised begging for these series was telling me they were wanting to read. I just don't have the right books for them, as their faces told me the story of how happy they were when I asked for their opinion on this subject matter.

Reading can be fun and with some help, I feel like my students will begin to see that too when they see their books they requested in the classroom library.

We have books available to them, however my students tell me that they don't like the books in the class library and don't have a lot of time to get to the school or public library. I figured a good way to start is getting something more updated and that I know they already like. Please help our community and "family" improve their comprehensive, and vocabulary skills while they read.
