This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students hate to read. They find most books boring and often do not portray life as my students see it. Books with characters and storylines that portray a story that is familiar and relatable to my students will help them learn to love reading.

The stories that my students want to read are stories about people who look and behave like them.

Students want to read books with relatable characters. When we enjoy what we read, we comprehend the story better and increase fluency. Increase comprehension and you increase achievement.
