My Students
Our school is in an urban area in Virginia. We take pride in being the most diverse elementary school in our district and represent about 30 different languages that are spoken by our students.
Our students and teachers love books and make reading a special part of each day. Along with motivating our students to read books they enjoy, our teachers are always working to increase our students' academic achievement and social-emotional skills. We are proud of our school community!
My Project
My third grade students love to read books, especially ones that come in a series. They start at number one to learn about the characters and then move forward to see all the adventures their beloved characters are experiencing. It has been amazing to see them find and recommend books to classmates and they are eager to read more of these books. My students read books that they enjoy during our school day, but also have the opportunity to take them home so they can read one book at a time, from start to finish. They are passionate readers and need more books!
