Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The C. library was closed for 15 years, and we only have 900 books in our collection. We want to add books that students requested, along with popular titles. We also want to have multiple copies of select books for students to buddy read or do a book club with. Some students read to the pre-K students on our campus to practice their English, so some titles are for that purpose.

We want students to engage with books so they can get off their phones, spark their imagination, and engage with their peers.

The titles we chose connect with the populations our school serves, and topics they are interested in and enjoy. We have learned that if students can choose the book, they enjoy reading.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
