Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our traditional themed school emphasizes personal responsibility with both our students and their families. I serve, as the teacher librarian, a wonderfully diverse population of students, PreK-5. The teachers and students are all quite excited about library programming, which, in turn, makes me even more excited about what I get to do each and every day. Many of our students are recent immigrants, with families that are dedicated to giving their children the best possible start with their education.
The enthusiasm that our students have each day is intoxicating and it energizes our entire school.
Each day, I get to greet them at the front door and their smiles and hugs create a wonderful environment for me to serve them to the best of my ability.
My Project
Our Title I school tries to do as much as possible for our students. We have students who live in extreme poverty and owning their own book is not always possible. We are trying to coordinate a book gifting to align with the holiday season so that each child will have a brand new book to call their own.
