My Project

My middle school students are at a critical age where they are developing their understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them. Many have had limited opportunities to engage with texts that reflect a wide range of cultures, identities, and life experiences.

These multicultural books will help students in grades 6–8 explore diverse perspectives while building literacy skills and critical thinking.

Through stories of resilience, identity, courage, and social change, students will learn to recognize injustice, develop empathy, and understand how individuals can positively impact their communities. As the next generation of leaders, decision-makers, and citizens, they need opportunities to engage with meaningful texts that broaden their perspectives and prepare them to contribute thoughtfully to an increasingly diverse world.
