My Students

I work as an occupational therapist helping students reach their fine motor, visual motor, and sensory goals. My students range from junior kindergarten up to fifth grade. Half of these students are in general education classes for the entire day, and the other half spend a majority of the time in an ASD classroom. Because of these grade levels, I have a variety of needs when it comes to supplies and materials.

My students are always so excited when they see me open the door to their classroom.

They are happy and willing to participate in anything put in front of them. Offering materials that are appropriate for their level is so important. Thanks for helping my students reach their fullest potential!

My Project

The students who receive Occupational Therapy services through schools fall under the umbrella of special education. These books can explain appropriate behavior and interaction with other peers, as well as foster a growth mindset. Growth mindset is the basic idea of changing the phrase "I can't do this" to "I can't do this YET!"

We all have the ability to succeed, some of us just need extra help.

Utilizing books in Occupational Therapy sessions can be beneficial to students. Hearing the alphabet read to them in a fun manner can ignite their memory of it, and carry it over into other areas of their academic setting.
