Your support has transformed a simple necessity into a profound relief for our students. When a child arrives at school without having eaten, their focus isn't on fractions or history—it's on the ache in their stomach. The quiet burden of food insecurity severely compromises a student's ability to learn, concentrate, and thrive.\r\n\r\nThanks entirely to your commitment, we launched the dedicated snack station, ensuring nourishing, accessible food is always available when a student needs it most. The impact is immediate and deeply personal. Instead of feeling the stress and embarrassment of being hungry, these students are met with dignity and care. The true benefit is the relief you provide, removing the major barrier of hunger and leading to fewer classroom disruptions and improved focus. By feeling supported and secure, our students are now better equipped to fully engage with their teacher and peers. This grant is not just about food; it is about investing in focus, stability, and equal opportunity in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for being the cornerstone of this vital initiative. Your generous contributions haven't just provided supplies; they've created a beautiful space for friendship and shared success that is transforming our fifth-grade community.\r\n\r\nYour funding provided simple but essential tools—gloves, aprons, supplies, a friendly delivery cart, and a cash system—that allowed our students to start their weekly enterprise: Bagel Friday!\r\n\r\nThe real magic happens as our fifth-grade Student Council members and students from our Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program work side-by-side. They are learning to navigate tasks together—taking orders, preparing the food, and managing the money.\r\nLast week, a truly special moment occurred during our delivery rounds. A nonverbal student from the ASD program was paired with a Student Council member to handle deliveries using his AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device. The device was pre-programmed with phrases like \"Your Bagel Friday order!\" and \"Thank you, have a great day!\" As they reached a classroom, the Student Council member held the cart steady while his partner skillfully navigated his device to announce the delivery and wish the teacher well. The teacher's delighted smile and the nonverbal student's proud posture as he successfully completed his communication and delivery tasks were unforgettable. That moment wasn't just about a successful delivery; it was about honoring every student's unique voice, building shared confidence, and creating a genuine connection that transcended words.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students' lives. Your contribution is directly funding a beautiful celebration and, more importantly, fostering friendships and life skills that will stay with these children forever.","fullyFundedDate":1752511375775,"projectUrl":"project/bagels-buddies/9454109/","projectTitle":"Bagels & Buddies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tyson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3562930_orig.jpg?crop=1481,1481,x0,y88&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752590360968","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3562930"},{"teacherId":3562930,"projectId":9467419,"letterContent":"On behalf of the students and staff of our Resource Room, please accept our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution to the \"Stay Calm and Have Fun\" project. Your support has transformed our learning environment, and we are thrilled to share the remarkable impact your investment has made.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, many of our students struggled with self-regulation. The pressures of academics, coupled with sensory and emotional challenges, often led to frustration, distraction, and sometimes disruptive behavior. We recognized the critical need for immediate, accessible tools that allow students to reset and refocus their nervous systems.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our Resource Room is now equipped with a carefully curated collection of calming tools and toys. These aren't just toys; they are essential instruments for learning and emotional development. \r\n\r\nThe results we are seeing are nothing short of incredible. Since implementing these tools, we have noted a significant improvement in student self-regulation. We've observed fewer instances of escalated behavior, increased on-task time, and a much calmer overall room atmosphere. Students are learning to identify their feelings, choose the right tool to meet their need, and get back to learning quickly. This shift is empowering them to take ownership of their emotional well-being and thrive in the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour donation is not just funding materials; it is investing in lifelong coping skills. By providing our students with the ability to \"Stay Calm and Have Fun,\" you are helping us build a foundation of emotional intelligence and resilience that will benefit them long after they leave our school.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and our vision. We promise to continue utilizing these tools to create a supportive, regulated, and successful learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1753552589582,"projectUrl":"project/stay-calm-and-have-fun/9467419/","projectTitle":"Stay Calm and Have Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tyson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3562930_orig.jpg?crop=1481,1481,x0,y88&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752590360968","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3562930"},{"teacherId":10237329,"projectId":9674068,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my students success. The iPad you helped fund has already begun making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, especially those with significant communication challenges. As this is my first year working in the schools, this iPad has helped make this a seamless transition for myself and my students by helping us to establish rapport through communication.\r\n\r\nMany of my students have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and experience difficulty with verbal communication. As a speech-language pathologist, I use the iPad during therapy sessions to model communication strategies, support language development, and increase independence. With AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) apps like TouchChat and LAMP Words for Life, the iPad allows students to express themselves in ways that were previously out of reach via symbols. \r\n\r\nWhat excites our students most is the ability to interact in real time. They light up when they realize they can make choices, share thoughts, and participate in classroom routines using the iPad. One student in particular, who previously relied on gestures and facial expressions, has begun using the device to request favorite items and name animals (a favorite activity) while we wait for a personal AAC to be approved. These moments that have brought joy to both staff and family.\r\n\r\nSo far, I have been able to customize vocabulary without taking the student's device away, model language in real time, and store their vocabularies. It is especially impactful for my students who are waiting for their own device to be delivered.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and belief in my students.
