Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school believes that literacy is the heart of education. It is so fundamental to learning that its importance in our school cannot be overstated.
My class consists of 24 amazing students.
They are energetic, unique, happy 2nd graders. They come into my classroom with different characteristics, skills and life experiences. These differences help us to build a cohesive and collaborative classroom community. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have learners that are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
We would love to give each of our students a book. It is important that our students still feel connected and are still reading during this period of time that we are being quarantined. The students will be so excited when they see that we showed up on their porches to bring them a book. With all of our libraries closed and the need of having kids spend less time hooked on screens; it’s imperative that we work together to ensure kids have a brand new book to read, at least once a week. Thus, I need your help to continue bringing in hope and literature straight to their doors. I am also requesting the book Lemonade wars which is a financial literacy book that I can read to them to complete our financial literacy goals.
