My Students

In our low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My students love to read and I want to foster that to diversify the STEM learning environment so that they know any career field is possible for them.

I would like to expose them to the diverse field of science and scientists through books, games and arts. I would like to create a resource library of books to expose them to the STEM field. Most of our parents do not have time to take their kids to the library due to various reasons. I hope I can provide an opportunity for my students to think about all the possibility of the a STEM career regardless of their background thanks to DonorsChoose!

My Project

Third grade is a special grade to teach. I am so lucky to be working with this group of amazing students. My students are often curious and enthusiastic about learning, which is a good thing to see as a teacher. They tend to ask questions that lead to curiosity. A need that my students often need are stories that involve their representation in the classroom. I teach at Title I elementary school in Oakland, CA. I want to create a classroom library that has rich content and show representations for my students. These amazing books will make a difference for every day learning as well as promoting the joy of reading to my students are who lack of books to read.
