Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Who doesn't love a good read aloud? When a book is read to the students in my classroom you can easily hear a pin drop. No matter the book, they are sitting on the edge of their seats to hear what happens next and clinging to my every word. During this time they love to share their understanding and listening comprehension skills by answering questions about the events of the story.

My students are inquisitive, book loving second graders who crave to hear adventurous stories!

A good story time is by far their favorite part of the day. It's a great way for our class as a whole to get together and experience our love for reading!

My Project

These books will be used primarily for story times and display purposes! Each month our classroom book displays will be switched out to heighten student anticipation for their next good read aloud. A lot of the books chosen are specific for certain seasons or holidays!

I have found one of the most engaging parts of our day is when my students are listening to a story read aloud!

Listening to stories gives students the opportunity to be exposed to experiences of others. It helps them to make new connections with their own lives. These stories will help my students to learn how to use comprehension strategies for their independent reading in the future.
