My Students

My students are incredible self-advocates who seek adult help when trying to solve a problem. They are eager to understand who they are as people and how they can most positively engage with the world around them.

We believe that when students are feeling safe and confident within themselves, they are better equipped to handle this changing world.

Adversity does not discriminate and these students face challenges every day in their personal and academic lives. These challenges range from family struggles and friendship issues to anxiety, grief, and the rigorous standards set for them.

The list of challenges facing students on a daily basis could go on and on. But the good news is, our kids are incredibly resilient. Given the right supports, they grow and thrive!

My Project

As a school counselor, I encounter myriad needs with my students - I never know what's going to walk through the door. Having been a school counselor herself, Julia Cook writes books on topics that counselors encounter on a daily basis.

"Books by Cook" will allow me to engage with my students in another way, addressing their concerns, problems, and needs through stories.

Relating to a character in a story is an amazing way to look at our problems in a different way and allows students to experience success in difficult situations.

Being able to provide an avenue of learning and growing through these books will make a world of difference for my students.
