Students in my classroom are focused on becoming better learners. My job is to help them achieve that goal. My personal goal is for all of my students to be on or above grade level by the end of the school year. I know I can get them there, but I need to keep them motivated and engaged.
My students are diverse in race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and skill level.
Most of the students come from mid-low income homes. Approximately 40% of the students in our school receive free or reduced lunch.
These books will help my students gain a love for reading. Our classroom library is outdated and falling apart. Books are missing pages and in poor condition. My students love to read, but need newer books that they can relate to. I believe these new books will help to instill a love for books and the places it can take you.
I want my students to establish a love of reading.
I have also included multiple copies of books for a novel study as well as a teacher and student guide. Reading a book as a class can help engage students in rich discourse and allow them to express their thoughts and ideas with other students who can connect and relate to their thinking. This will ultimately help my students grow academically.
