Our students love to learn, they love to develop and apply new skills, and they are resilient. We are an urban, low-income district, and our families are mostly hardworking immigrant families, many of whom speak a language other than English at home.
I'm thrilled that the Magic Tree House series is becoming very popular in our elementary library, but we need a new set of the books with the updated covers and numbering so students can keep track of the books they have read!
Many of our Magic Tree House books are old and falling apart, and we do not have the updated numbering (which separates the Magic Tree House series from the Merlin Missions series) or the most recent books in the series.
The books that I am requesting will update this popular series for students, and also add some of the nonfiction Fact Trackers that we are missing from our library collection. Our library collection needs to include books that students want to read, with characters that they are familiar and comfortable with. It's so important for students to have access to the books that they want to read, to keep them motivated and foster their love of reading!
Our amazing elementary complex library serves 2000+ students in four schools, and as I continue to cultivate it into a 21st century library media center and learning hub where students can collaborate and learn, I am constantly working to update the materials and resources that students are accessing!
