My Students

We are a classroom of first-grade students who live and learn in a small community in Utah. We love to read and explore our world by meeting new characters in books and through non-fiction books. We learn best by hands-on​ building and creating.

My students are excited and curious about learning, they love to explore and discover new things together.

You can often find us working in small groups communicating to work on a new challenge or solve a problem. We love working together to solve problems that will help our classroom and prepare us to help our community.

My Project

The materials and supplies I am requesting for my students will help reinforce and fill in the gaps students have obtained due to the effects of COVID. I have students who struggle with tracking and need tools to help them read.

We need more decodable readers and materials in our classroom library to help reinforce the phonics skills we are learning in class and give them the materials they need to be successful.

Having items such as whisper phones will help students hear what they are reading and make sure they are correctly making the sounds.

I have two dyslexic students in my classroom who would benefit from Orton Gillingham resources to help them. The guided reading strips with overlays have been shown to help students with Dyslexia learning to read.

My students do better with visual materials like fraction blocks and magnetic tiles that match what they are using in their desks. Those are two big units we have coming up.

I also have some students who need to to build their problem solving skills using games such as Buidz and Picasso tiles. These materials will encourage communication, creativity, and collaboration using engineering skills.

As we are working to solidify our writing and phonics skills having magnetic dry erase boards will give students limitless opportunities to show their thinking.

My students require a lot of hands on materials to help them develop number sense and strengthen their math skills. While I have a limited number of these materials it will allow each student to have their own and will make the classroom safer so we are not sharing.

Having these materials will help us to finish the year strong and fill in the gaps.
