My Project

Our school has implemented a new vision statement: "100% of students will graduate reading at grade level with a confirmed post-secondary plan-- enrolled, enlisted, or employed." The renewed focus on boosting students' literacy skills inspired me to request materials to build a cozy class library.

The books in this project were recommended from the students themselves.

Please help me buy more books of the student's choosing to expand the library and reading incentives.

This is a huge need at title one schools like mine, where poverty has created a large learning gap between students.

As I was looking over my students reading levels today, I discovered that 140 out of 200 students in our current sophomore class read below a high school reading level. Of those 140 sophomores, about 70 read at a grade school level, 70 read at middle school level. This deeply impacts our students' post-high school opportunities if we cannot help them catch up before graduation.

Please help me create a classroom environment that draws students towards reading!
