Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from urban areas with diverse backgrounds, so they are facing multiple life issues. This can be difficult for anyone, so it is highly important that they are afforded a classroom environment that promotes their learning and well-being first and foremost.

They are enthusiastic, ambitious, and motivated learners.

I wish for each one of my students to have the opportunities that they so rightfully deserve in a classroom environment that provides ample and worthwhile learning experiences. Their future matters.

My Project

It's a new year and I want to start it off with providing a variety of picture books for my students to read as they explore each story page. I have requested books that fall under the STEAM umbrella, such as "Rosie Revere, Engineer" and "Ada Twist, Scientist" by Andrea Beaty. The books are great because the children will be able to listen to the story, and then become their own engineer or scientist in class as they work on STEAM activities. I have also requested books by Dr. Seuss, such as "The Cat in the Hat" because the stories are rich in vocabulary, rhymes and melodic storytelling.

Kids deserve the opportunity to learn as much as possible with a variety of materials.

The coloring books would be great for the kids to have when they are not able to have recess outside due to inclement weather, and when they finish their classwork early. I enjoyed coloring as a kid, and the kids in my class enjoy it as well. The buckets are for the kids to have to place their books and supplies. It's a fun way for them to organize their belongings. I want the best for my students as they continue to embark on their educational journey.
