My Project

I am a reading teacher for grades Kindergarten-5th grade in a Title I school in Raleigh, NC. My students are a diverse group who speak a variety of languages, come from many different places, engage in various extracurricular activities, and embrace countless new experiences. What they have in common is a desire to learn.

I want to give my students a cozy blanket and a books to enjoy during our Books and Blankets celebration.

On the last school day before winter break, we will celebrate their hard work by having a special event called Books and Blankets. I love to spend my winter break snuggled under a warm blanket, reading a good book. I want to provide my students with the same experience. We will start our "fireplace" on the screen and curl up with a good book and a blanket for a fun independent reading time. I want my students to experience the "fun" in reading so they choose to read for enjoyment.

The cookies will be a special snack during our Books and Blankets celebration.
