A classroom library is important to the literacy development of children, I want my students to be surrounded by books that reflect the world they live in and that have diverse characters that they can relate to. I plan to not only have these books on display around the classroom and share them with my students during read aloud but I also want to encourage my students to take the books home to share with their families. I hope my students will read these books and be able to say "This character is just like me!"
