Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I elementary school with a large number of families coming from low income households where English is commonly a second language. We also are a school site that is comprised of students from many different backgrounds and races. They deserve a class library rich with books that are as diverse as they are and that is my goal.

My Project

When life drastically changes and we find ourselves more isolated and contained then ever - the real impact has yet to be fully understood. Children are the ones who are being impacted and one way to remedy this issue is by letting them explore new places, ideas, friends, all through the vehicle of engaging books.

We read in all subject areas of school.

We read for education, and we read for pleasure. Our classroom has always had an emphasis for reading - but reading quality, engaging books. The only way we achieve such success is through having enough books to encourage student voice and independence in regard to the student becoming in charge of their academics.

These books will be for the students this year and in years to come. They are there to show students that not only are there enough books out there - but there are some that are going to be perfect for them!
