By carefully selecting various authors and book topics, my students will have access to books that are not only appealing to them, but crucial to fostering a lifelong love for reading that will endure. School libraries are amazing but typically have a few copies of certain books to be shared among an entire school. By increasing our class library, the access will allow for a more personal experience for my class. Students will be able to read these books and prove their reading skills through Accelerated Reading tests while having fun! Every day, students receive at least 15 minutes of sustained silent reading in addition to a daily 30 minute reading homework assignment using an approved and appropriate book from the library or our classroom.
