My Students

Our school is located in high poverty, rural community. My students love hands-on activities. They are very energetic and need to get up and get moving on a daily basis. As a teacher in a low-income district, I try to provide the best experiences for my students in the classroom as well as out of the classroom.

Many of our children live in single-parent households and receive a free or reduced-price lunch.

My students are young learners, so I try and make our classroom as warm and welcoming as possible and also provide​ a very rigorous learning environment for them. I want each and every one of them to have the best educational advantage a young learner can possibly have.

My Project

I would like to have my students have clear Book Nook bags because the ones I have are getting worn out. The children will be using the book bags to carry books, plush animals that relate to the books as well as a board game, card game, journals, etc. Each child will take a Book Nook home on a weekly basis. They will spend time with their "friend" and write what they did with them. They will also need to read the several books to their "friend" as well as their family. They will also have an activity that goes with each story. After they spent time with their "friend" they will return it back to school and report on what they did with their "friend".
