I have 21 first grade students in my class with varying levels of learning. I have learned the iPads have been a great educational source for my students. Along with the iPads, "hands-on" learning has been key in getting many of my students to grasp the concepts that are being taught. They are a class who loves to work together and likes to see results. They are encouraging to one another and when they see someone learning about something, they want to explore the concept (they like to be challenged with one another). Because we are a rural district, growing is an important part of our community (many farms in the area). Unfortunately, many of these children do not get to experience the true growing cycle. This project will give the students first hand experience of how things grow. It will teach them responsibility in caring for something. They will be able to see how their hard work pays off as the plants begin to grow. This is a great skill for first grade students.
