This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious, thoughtful learners who thrive when they have opportunities to discuss ideas, challenge their thinking, and connect with others through literature. I work with students who crave meaningful conversations and books that stretch their understanding of the world. This project will give students access to engaging texts that encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and a lifelong love of reading.

The goal of this project is to build a classroom collection of book club sets that allow students to read, analyze, and discuss literature with their peers.

Through these small-group discussions, students will strengthen their comprehension, communication, and problem-solving skills while developing empathy by exploring diverse perspectives and experiences. Book clubs create opportunities for students to ask deep questions, support their ideas with evidence, and learn from one another in ways that traditional whole-class reading cannot always provide.

What makes my students special is their passion for learning and their eagerness to dive deeper into topics that interest them. They are creative thinkers who enjoy tackling challenges and making connections across subjects and real-world issues. Access to a variety of book club titles will help them grow as readers, leaders, and collaborators while fostering a learning community where every voice is valued.
