My Students

This project will reach 60 first-grade students in a low-income, urban area. Our students are curious learners. They question the motions of life and think in an abstract way. They love learning and as educators, it is our job to add value to their education.

My Project

Our last science unit of the school year revolves around animal life cycles and you guessed it, baby birds! It is one thing to read and watch videos about animal development and another to experience it in your own classroom. This project will allow our students to observe and reflect on what it takes for an animal to develop and survive.

Talk about ending the school year with a CHIRP!

When these chicks are hatched, they will spend time in the classroom growing. When they reach an appropriate age they will be transferred to the school courtyard. This allows all students in our school, Pre-K to 5th grade, to observe and enjoy living animals and their habits. Once the school year has come to an end, these chickens have a home on a farm to be transferred to.
