My Project

Alabama is in the heart of Tornado Alley. Our littlest learners struggle with the real effects of tornadoes, severe weather, and wind damage to the school and to their homes. It is very traumatic to not feel safe during a storm when you are five years old.

This learning library will provide bilingual weather books for families to check out to start hard conversations about the fears of severe weather.

It will also provide valuable fiction and non-fiction books for classroom weather study. In addition, it will provide SEL books to help students find the language needed to talk about fear, anxiety, and anger when facing experiences, such as severe weather, that are beyond our control.
