When I set up the new listening center, the students were so excited to be able to choose a book, look through the pages, and know exactly what the story was saying. The smiles on their faces just lit up the classroom. But, adding to that, when I asked them about the stories they listen to, they were able to recall more of the story with every little help from me. This gave them independence when it came to reading and understanding the books more. The LEGO STEM kits you helped fund have transformed our learning space into a mini robotics lab, and our students have become brilliant bot builders in the making.\r\n\r\nWith these kits, students are not only building robots—they're building critical thinking, perseverance, and teamwork. They've learned how to follow complex instructions, troubleshoot problems, and even redesign their creations when things don't go as planned (which happens often—and that's when the best learning kicks in!). We've explored concepts like sensors, coding sequences, cause and effect, and design thinking.\r\n\r\nYou'd be amazed to see what reading, writing, and speaking look like in our STEM sessions now. Students are reading diagrams and instructions with purpose, using content-specific vocabulary in context, and presenting their work like engineers. One student, who typically shies away from writing assignments, is now drafting blueprints and reflection journals after every build!\r\n\r\nSeveral of my quieter students have found their voices through this project—literally and figuratively. One pair of students went from hesitant builders to leading a mini-lesson for their peers on how to program motion sensors.
