Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class consists of 20 bilingual students in a full day preschool program. They love painting, adding glitter, gluing paper, cutting magazines but most of all they enjoy being creative! The end result is a masterpiece and they are always so proud of it! I want my students to develop mentally, socially, and emotionally through the arts.
My goal is to provide a variety of arts and crafts resources that will inspire students to create and will keep them engaged through our unit of study.
Students and parents enjoy seeing student work and projects that they create in school. Bilingual students love to express themselves through art because there is no right or wrong answer. They are able to create their own masterpieces and tell about them in their own way!
My Project
Students will be inspired to paint, observe, model, design, build, and create through different forms (watercolor, drawing, gluing colored paper, stamping, etc.). Through each unit we will incorporate a variety of arts and crafts to support students and help them better understand the concept being taught. As kids use a paintbrush, their fine motor skills improve. By counting pieces and colors, they learn math skills. When children experiment with materials, they learn about science. When kids feel good while they are creating, art helps them feel great about themselves!
Helping our children will make a difference because they will have the right tools to develop their creativity, fine motor skills, and problem solving skills.
Students enjoy telling about their masterpieces and being able to display and share them will boost their self-esteem. Finally, they will be able to invent new ways of thinking and this is a skill that will help them for life!
