Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach 2nd grade and quite a few of my students do not know how to ride a bike! Many of my students are immigrants and have not had the ability to ride bikes. They live in an urban environment and are not allowed to play outside like some children take for granted.

I want to give them the experience of learning balance on a balance bike before they get too big!

I have selected 2 balance bikes and 2 regular bikes so I can take my class out and they can take turns riding around our school pavement.

Riding bikes has always brought me so much joy, as well as it was my main transportation source until I got a car at 28! I also have selected helmets. I will also share these with other teachers who want to use them!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
