Better Notes!! Highlighters, colored pencils, markers!!

My students need highlighters, markers, and colored pencils to help them take better notes in algebra, geometry, and chemistry.

My Students

Adding color to the note-taking process turns it from a tedious task to a fun one!

My classroom is full of second-chance kids.

I teach algebra, geometry, and chemistry to sophomores, juniors and seniors at an alternative high school. We cater to a population of students who stopped attending their previous schools because of pregnancy, drugs, gang involvement, or an otherwise unsafe environment. However, my students are not “bad kids.” They have passed rigorous admissions standards, chosen to uphold the school’s high expectations, and would like to change their lives for the better. We keep the classrooms small (a maximum of 15 students, typically 11-12) and provide each student with the personalized attention they need to succeed, and hopefully go on to college.

My Project

Highlighters, colored pencils, fine-tip markers, and expo dry-erase board markers will bring color to the note-taking process. Students love highlighting important vocab words and organizing concepts based on color. Using markers and colored pencils takes everyday, boring note-taking and makes it fun! While my students really enjoy adding color to their notes, I simply don't have enough supplies. By stockpiling a bunch of markers, highlighters, and colored pencils now, we should have enough to get us through next year and hopefully beyond! These new writing utensils will also provide a lot more variety than my current supplies. The dry erase markers will allow me to give notes in color, too!

By donating even a tiny amount to this project, you are facilitating a better learning environment for my second-chance students.

They can have positive and effective learning experiences in the math and chemistry classroom, but they need the tools to succeed. Your contribution can provide them with a better note-taking experience. My students really appreciate your support. Hearing that people who don't even know them have taken the time to aid their learning makes them feel great!
