Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Stop touching me!" "Scoot over!" Getting settled for a lesson can take up precious learning time and little bodies take up more space than you think! My 24 fourth graders are constantly on the move but during small group instruction, we need a cozy carpet to settle on to get ready for learning!

I am the proud teacher of 24 amazing fourth graders.

We are a Title I school with 100% of students receiving free lunch and 70% of students who are English Speakers of other languages. We have a unique classroom set up with no desks or chairs! We have flexible seating options which means we sit wherever we want! This includes couches, counters, stools, and even sinks! Some of us enjoy stretching out on the floor, but no one wants to sit on the cold, hard floor to work! Having a large, comfy carpet will give my students even more choice when it comes to choosing a learning spot!

My Project

Each morning, our class comes together for a Morning Meeting where we discuss our daily agenda, set personal goals, and share personal celebrations. We will use this carpet as our daily meeting spot. This carpet will be the place where we can come together as a class family and everyone will have their own space.

Donations for a class rug will improve our classroom environment by ensuring that we have enough space for everyone.

My students will have a cozy spot to gather on when learning new things. My students will also enjoy the added style this new carpet will bring to our home away from home!
