My Students

Despite all the challenges and hardships that my students face outside of school, they come into my classroom day after day and work hard to make a better future for themselves. Sure, they don't realize it yet; they think they're just reading and writing. But their perseverance shows me that they will go on to do great things.

Rita Pierson said it best: "Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."

I am my students' champion. No matter how many bottles they flip, how many pencils are tapped on desks, how many gum pieces are scrapped off the floor, I will continue to fight for the best for my students. Nothing is more important to me than creating the best learning environment for my students, and I'm hoping that this platform will help me accomplish just that.

My Project

Every year, my class participates in a project where they create a class book to become published authors. The book is an informational guide on exotic animals from around the world. For a month, students do research on what their animal looks like, where their animal lives, and what kind of habits this animal has. Then, they do an illustration of their animal.

The students are so excited about this project, and now that we are done with our drafts, I would love to provide them with the materials they need to make this book beautiful.

The company we are working with to publish our book requires students to use a good pen to write their page and markers to illustrate their animal. If students had a variety of colors to choose from, they could really have the chance to get creative with their illustrations. Also, ordering these markers in large quantities can ensure that students are being efficient during this publishing week, as they won't be waiting on blue for the skies or green for the grass. These materials would be so helpful in making this project something the students can be proud of!
