My Project

In our school, we have 520 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Among these 520 students I general education students; ELL students; and students with special needs all of these students are passionate about learning and eager to learn.

Learning from the past to understand the present and our future is an important aspect of STEM.

My Jr engineers and Jr scientists are ready to become Jr paleontologists. There have been questions about animals and plants from long ago. Students expressed a fascination about the past and about fossils; this is how this project was born. Students will get the opportunity to study the fossils in the Kaplan Learning Specimens Stones fossils closely. This will allow students to gain a better understanding history of planet Earth.

These fossils will be used across all grade levels. As they are used from kinder - 5th grade students will build on previous knowledge they have learned in previous grades. This will prepare them for middle school and high school science. These fossils will be used year after year and help to instill a curiosity and the love of science.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
