My students need a new table with wooden chairs. This table complements the Montessori physical environment through its beauty and functionality. The chairs foster proper posture and a social setting for appropriate work.
Our students come from diverse backrounds: Both in terms of ethnicity and socioecomonic status. Our students and families have chosen this magnet program which offers a Montessori pedagogy in our public school system. The school is part of a public school system offering magnet schools as a choice. My students are in a multi - age classroom including Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten. OUr families are very involved in many aspects of our school including classroom volunteering; parent education events and school wide projects.
My students are adorable, and able to spend two consecutive years in the classroom since it is a multi - age environment.
Our relationships are an important aspect of their experience since trust, familiarality and individualized instruction are significant components. As a Montessori teacher, I understand how important differentiated instruction can be as each child is different. We aim for high standards and I'm proud to report that the children meet their learning goals.
My Project
I am in the process of transforming a classroom into an appropriate Montessori learning environment. Dr. Montessori stated that the physical learning environment is the most important aspect of a proper learning context. This public school classroom is on its way to becoming a beautiful educational environment. This project is designed to add beautiful furniture to our early childhood classroom. The wooden table and chairs offer appropriate social settings, along with beautiful, sturdy aspects. Personally, I love wooden chairs with a ladder back since it fosters proper posture and writing positioning. Initially, it was exceedingly industrial in its appearance and the furniture was not the proper size, nor suitable for our classroom and its functionality. With the help of donors like yourselves, this public Montessori program offers a wide range of students an amazing pedagogy tuition free. It is very important to offer an authentic Montessori enviroment in our public school district. Thank you.
