Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very hardworking, persistent and extremely creative! They look forward to learning new things, they enjoy hands-on activities, and they love to use their Chromebooks every day. They come to school with excitement and are ready to learn every single day. I am inspired to go to work because of them.
My 23 third grade homeroom students are mostly identified as coming from low-socio-economic backgrounds, in which 100% qualify for free or reduced-price lunches, with 80% identified as English language learners.
My Project
I would like to provide an inviting area for my third-grade students to read a book. They always read sitting on their desks because they don't feel comfortable sitting "criss-cross applesauce" at our library carpet anymore.
These bean bags and pillows will definitely be used where my students can feel relaxed and comfortable while reading their books.
This seating will provide my students with the option of having a quiet space and comfort they need to develop to continue their good reading habits.
Our library will look inviting and welcoming to my students or any student who would come to our room to read. It can become a quiet area where students can read and take Accelerated Reading quizzes.
