Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our mission for our student-athletes is to provide an environment where students can excel and grow daily in Character Development, Academics, and Athletics. Our students are held to high standards on and of the field, in and out of the season. We conduct weekly grade checks, weekly attendance reports, and try to meet with each individual on a weekly basis. Our student athletes come from all backgrounds, and income levels. We want to give every student athlete the opportunity to grow as young men.

Each off season our leaders meet weekly to grow as individuals, and work to carry out our team's mission.

They have covered numerous topics and carry out assignments to continue to grow as young men. Many of our students do not have someone in their life encouraging them to be great, or do the right thing. These meetings allow our coaching staff to be positive role models and help shape our future leaders.

My Project

Every year the HHS football staff meets weekly with our young men. We go over various topics we feel will help them become great young men. We have cover topics: commitment, respect, respect for women, setting goals, and many more.

This years leadership theme is: BE THE BEST YOU.

We want to do this by having our kids read Jon Gordon's book "Training Camp." Our kids will discover what traits are used by the best, to become the best. Our goal is to have the students go through this book and discuss how it can be applied to make them great, our school great, and our football program great. The lessons will be utilized off the field first, then applied on the field when we start practice in the summer. We want our student athletes to be able to share what they learned to the rest of our team. This will allow our team to work to be the best, while each individual is working to be the best.
