My MHS girls basketball student-athletes strive to learn about work ethic and teamwork in the sport of basketball. While having fun playing a sport, the student-athlete learns about perseverance and the social skills needed to interact in the world today. Living in a low-income neighborhood they have challenges based on a lack of exposure to opportunities and adequate equipment. They are constantly telling me, “It would be easier to learn if we had the right equipment to use.” They are excited to learn and motivated to be successful. Help brighten the future of these already bright students by giving them access to needed opportunities and equipment.
To increase teamwork and individual sports skills, student-athletes must focus on practice and working together instead of fundraising. Too often low budgets require our team to hold fundraisers to purchase replacement or updated equipment. This takes away from the focus of work on the field and adds an additional level of stress to the student-athlete. There is never a guarantee that fundraising goals will be met and equipment will go years without being replaced. A donation towards this project will take us in a direction where we can focus on the team and individual athlete development without having to worry about funding equipment. After having a canceled season last year, there is a need for increased conditioning and training to prepare for games.
A donation to support getting my athletes a ball cart will help with the secure storage of equipment and ensure it doesn't walk away.
The addition of this equipment will give athletes a way to transport and secure their equipment without having to worry about conducting fundraisers. So many times the focus changes from the game to fundraising for equipment that is needed. Help us keep the focus on basketball!
