Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As an elementary teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom every day. The Fourth Grade consist of approximately 60 fourth graders, many whom come from bilingual and/or single parent households. All students receive free breakfast and lunch from the school. My students love school!
Coming to school every day is often the most safe and exciting part of their day.
I want to give them everything they need in order for them to reach their full potential.
My Project
My students would benefit immensely from these basic schools supplies such as notebooks, folders, pencils, and markers.
The school I work at is in an urban neighborhood with high levels of poverty, and I don't wish to depend upon struggling families and parents to provide basic school supplies.
But, we want our students to receive all of the opportunities possible, especially in their early years of education.
These notebooks and folders will allow my students to stay organized with their work. It will teach them a sense of independence as they will be expected to keep all their materials in a specific folder.
I hope you will support my project and help me provide basic school supplies for students who deserve it.
