This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The goal for each of my students is to first learn self advocacy. I want them to understand their disabilities and own them. I want them to learn what makes them different from other people. Understand their strengths and weakness, and choose a career path that best fits them. I just sent them to feel safe and successful in school. The goal is graduation and a plan for their future, so that they may be competent, happy members of our society.

My Project

My students have mild to moderate disabilities, they have my class for one period per day and the rest of the time they are in the general education setting. My job is to make sure they have what they need to be successful in the general education setting through: support, interventions and materials (pencils, pens, erasers and white out tape). Most of my kids come to school without even a pencil. It’s pretty tough to pass Algebra or Chemistry with a learning disability, even more difficult without a pencil. As a single mom of two boys I can not use my own money to support my students, and appreciate all help received.
