Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a district of underrepresented students who come into the 9th grade far below grade level. It is my job to help them jump many grades' worth of learning in a spectacularly small amount of time, and with very few resources to help get us there.
My students have all the potential in the world, but our school is not able to provide some of the basic tools to empower them.
They deserve every chance they can get, and I am hoping this platform can be a start.
My Project
My students will need certain staple supplies in my classroom. The requirements are simple, but they make a big difference. I would love to provide these, but I do not have an extra to spend.
Students needs pencils to write, paper to record, binders to organize, and a classroom that isn't so stifling that it lulls them to sleep.
With your help, my classroom can provide these tools.
Additional to the fans, having a set of lamps to contend with the fluorescent lighting will create a more welcoming environment. Small changes like that can make the biggest difference in a student's willingness and exuberance to attend.
