Since receiving the snacks, they have been used daily to support students who arrive at school hungry or need fuel to get through long class periods. The snacks are available discreetly, allowing students to take what they need without embarrassment. I've seen students who were previously withdrawn or unfocused become more engaged once their immediate need for food was met.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the snacks, their reactions were immediate and heartfelt. Many expressed relief, gratitude, and surprise that someone cared enough to provide for them. One student said, \"This helps more than you know,\" while another shared that it was the first thing they had eaten that day. These moments reinforced how essential this support is—not just academically, but emotionally.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, students are now better able to focus on their coursework, participate in discussions, and stay in class through the day. In our classroom, technology is not just for completing assignments it is a bridge to understanding. The headphones allow students to access biology content through videos, simulations, translations, and speech-to-text tools. Students can pause and replay lessons, listen to scientific vocabulary in their home languages, and hear instructions clearly as many times as they need. This has made grade-level science content far more accessible, especially for multilingual learners.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the independence these headphones provide. They love being able to focus without background noise, listen closely during lab simulations, and record explanations of their thinking using the microphone feature. Many students have shared that they feel more confident participating because they can prepare their responses privately before sharing aloud.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially embraced this technology. One student proudly takes responsibility for organizing the headphones, carefully storing them in their boxes, and making sure the microphones are secure after each use. Others who previously struggled to follow video instructions are now fully engaged, focused, and eager to learn. Students who were once hesitant now rewatch lessons independently and practice pronunciation until they feel confident.\r\n\r\nThese headphones have done more than improve sound quality they have increased focus, strengthened organization skills, and given students ownership of their learning. Most importantly, they have helped students feel supported, capable, and included.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is quieter, more focused, and more equitable and our students are learning with confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1764703464891,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-language-through-sound/9924394/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Language Through Sound","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Yahya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3634794_orig.jpg?crop=285,285,x285,y154&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732158808662","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3634794"},{"teacherId":9817979,"projectId":9360259,"letterContent":"Since receiving the new resources, the students have been using them to intentionally build a calming, welcoming, and creative space that supports emotional regulation and self-expression. The colored pencil classpack has been incorporated into art-based grounding activities and reflective exercises, allowing students to process feelings visually during counseling sessions. The bean bag chairs, weighted plushes, noise-canceling headphones, and curtain lights have helped transform the room into a sensory-safe environment where students can decompress, especially during moments of stress or emotional overwhelm. Snacks are used mindfully to support students who come in hungry or need a small comfort during longer check-ins, reinforcing that their basic needs matter in this space.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions were immediate and heartfelt. Many expressed excitement and curiosity, especially about the sensory lighting, plush seating, and weighted items. Several students commented that the room felt \"safe,\" \"calm,\" or \"like a place you actually want to be,\" which was incredibly meaningful. The environment has helped lower students' initial anxiety when entering the room, making them more open to talking, participating in activities, or simply sitting quietly to regulate before returning to class.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these resources as part of ongoing lessons and counseling goals focused on emotional awareness, coping skills, and self-advocacy. The bookshelf and visual materials will support psychoeducational lessons, while the sensory tools will remain available as students practice recognizing when they need a break and how to care for themselves. Thanks to our donors, this space now actively supports students' growth, regulation, and readiness to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1755716668170,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-stock-and-enhance-our-students/9360259/","projectTitle":"Help Us Stock and Enhance Our Students' Wellness Corner!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cruz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9817979_orig.jpg?crop=1378,1378,x0,y183&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731946776474","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9817979"},{"teacherId":566511,"projectId":9632833,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our Intro to Law and Government classes. Your generosity has made a real difference in our classroom, and I am so grateful.\r\n\r\nThe judges' robe and gavel have been such a fun and meaningful addition. When students use them during mock trials and class simulations, something really changes — they take their roles more seriously, listen more carefully to one another, and become much more engaged in the process. It makes the learning feel real instead of abstract, and that has been incredibly powerful for my students.\r\n\r\nThe pocket Constitutions have also had a big impact. Students now have their own copy to work with, which means they can highlight, annotate, and refer back to the text when we are discussing rights, laws, and court cases. It has helped them slow down, read more closely, and use evidence to support their thinking.\r\n\r\nThe highlighters and binders might seem simple, but they've been just as important. They've helped students stay organized, keep track of their work, and feel more prepared for class. For many students, having their own materials makes them feel more confident and more capable.\r\n\r\nOverall, these resources have made our classroom more engaging, more focused, and more meaningful.
