Because of your generosity, we were able to begin the year fully equipped with notebooks and folders for every student. The students were so grateful to have a few less items to worry about gathering on their own.\r\n\r\nWe have already made great use of the supplies—scissors and glue sticks have become daily tools as students add notes and printed diagrams to their interactive notebooks. These interactive notebooks have truly enhanced learning this year. By having individual, dedicated notebooks, students are developing stronger study habits and keeping their notes and assignments organized in one place. Needless to say, this added a whole other step to teaching I did not /need/ to add for myself, but knowing the students had cold water was helpful for all of them.\r\n\r\nThe main purpose of this project was the automated water dispenser, which made it so much more accessible for students and teachers to stay hydrated. Your donation provided us with a reliable and durable water hose, which might seem like a small item—but for us, it is a crucial tool. Because of your kindness, our (ELL) students now have the ability to care for their plants properly and take ownership of the garden they've worked so hard to build.\r\n\r\nThe garden gives them a safe and engaging place where they can explore science, work as a team, and develop their language skills in a meaningful, real-world context. Through planting, watering, and observing changes in the garden, students are learning important science concepts like life cycles, ecosystems, sustainability, and environmental care. They also practice vocabulary, reading instructions, and having conversations about their work—all essential skills for language development.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the garden teaches students responsibility and teamwork. They take pride in caring for the plants and understand that their efforts matter. They have begun organizing a schedule for watering and are even sharing tips with one another on how to keep the garden healthy. This project has helped build confidence and a strong sense of community among students who often feel isolated or unsure in a new language setting.\r\n\r\nWe are excited to share that this success has inspired us to start planning our next step. The materials you helped fund, from sensory tools and fidgets to calming visuals and soft seating, have been a game changer. We've already seen students independently use the corner when they're feeling overwhelmed, and it's created a culture of self-awareness and emotional regulation in our classroom. Just last week, a student who had been struggling with test anxiety spent a few minutes in the corner using a bean bag and stress ball. They returned to their desk noticeably calmer and more focused. A small but powerful reminder of how much this space matters.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with curiosity and excitement. Many of them immediately gravitated toward the bean bags. We took some time to talk as a class about self-care, boundaries, and emotional well-being, which sparked a deeper interest in mental health. Now, we're integrating mindfulness practices into our weekly routine, and students are even beginning to suggest new tools they'd like to see added to the space. Moving forward, we're incorporating social-emotional learning activities into our lessons to help students build a stronger toolkit for emotional resilience. Your support has planted the seed for a healthier, more empathetic learning environment, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1744222972285,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-create-a-wellness-corner-for-our/9214867/","projectTitle":"Help us Create a Wellness Corner for our Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cruz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9817979_orig.jpg?crop=1378,1378,x0,y183&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731946776474","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9817979"},{"teacherId":8674351,"projectId":9311057,"letterContent":"Thank you all so much for your continued support to our program.
