Students are more likely to engage if the materials interest them. Markers and posters make it exciting and they want to do the work. Seeing what they have done with the materials given, gives them a sense of accomplishment. Nothing is better than color coding! We do a lot of character charts, team projects, and anchor charts to increase their learning in the classroom. I strive to interest my students throughout the day and make sure that they are getting the most of the lesson they can. When creating something on posters or white board, I have realized that the are very interested. The are always ready for something hands on.
