Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income high poverty school district, my students are faced with several obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many obstacles they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences.

My students are creative, smart and very eager to learn.

They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

We have used a lot of our basic supplies so far this school year and need many things replaced. These supplies keep our classroom running smoothly on a daily basis. Funding in my district is extremely limited at this time and does not provide for even the most basic of supplies. I am in need of primary journals, pencils, scissors, and utility boxes.

These materials will allow my students to experience success in all content areas as they learn in my classroom.

My project is important because without your help we would not be able to receive these materials that we so desperately need to keep our classroom running as smoothly as possible. These essential supplies will help our students become successful and organized first graders.
